Chantal & Damian | Royalton Riviera Cancun Wedding Photography
Ahhhh Chantal…. You guys! Chantal messaged me on my facebook page to chat about her wedding (which was not booked yet at all) for like a year. We practically became besties over messanger and I started to think maybbeeee she’s not even real?? Are we ever gonna even meet? This girl even getting married?? She got a crush on me or something?
Fast forward to a year-ish later I FINALLY convinced Chantal to book an IN PERSON consult!! WOOHOOO!!! Damian and her headed into the studio for a night and I knew we’d get along right away. I was STOKED when these two booked me!!
They chose a brand new resort for the wedding which was incredible!! The cinnamon ice cream tastes like a chai latte at the cafe in the resort and omg it was very addictive!! Damian’s Mum and Chantal’s parents won me over right away along with their amazing crew of friends. Her Dad even made me dance with him at the wedding! Ahhh I felt like family by the end of the week. Destination weddings!!! They really are so amazing.
Their dance floor was insaneeeeee and LIT (Literally)! These guys knew how to have one crazy party that night!! We headed over to Isla Mujeres for their wedding portraits a couple days later and got the most intense sunset I have ever worked with down south. The colors were off the charts and the whole island was at a stand still, everyone just had their eyes on the sky. It was breathtaking. We zipped around the island to a couple of my favourite spots on a little golf cart we rented. This island has my heart. I spent some time in an airbnb here years ago and just keep going back. It’s got the coolest vibe there.
I asked Damian and Chantal for some “words from the couple” and here is what Damian said, “Trust Sofia when she suggests where to do your Day After Session because your pictures will turn out amazing!”
And here is some advice from the Bride Chantal to any couples planning destination weddings:
1. Trust your on site wedding coordinator as they really know what they are doing.
2. The less decor the better, the location is breathtaking.
3. Rent a light up dance floor. It was so much fun and all our guests loved it!
4. Take time to soak it all in, the day goes by so fast!!
5. Hire Sofia because she takes such unique photos and is a blast to be around (Awwww thanks gurl!! xoxoxo!)
Special thanks to my close friend and amazing sidekick for this trip, Courtney Lovestrom. Courtney did all the girl’s hair for the wedding day, Chantal’s hair and makeup for the Day After Session AND played walking, talking light stand for me for the two days. She now refers to herself as “lighting cheetah”.
